Leader Profile: Phillip Parrish
Stepping Up to Lead the Way
Phillip R. Parrish believes in leading by example and shares his life story through a servant’s heart and serves as a role model for all students he interacts with at Texarkana College. Phillip is living his dream of leading the next generation to a better quality of life…he is a devout believer in “It Takes a Village”. A first-generation college student, Phillip has earned his Master of Science in Workforce Education Leadership from Mississippi State University.
Phillip connects students with campus and community resources, which has impacted the non-academic support of TC’s students resulting in an increased retention rate of 91%. He co-founded and established a campus food bank for workforce students that now serves the entire student population on campus. Phillip is an adjunct instructor teaching an employability course titled “Bring Your A-Game to Work” to develop and promote work ethics and leadership qualities of future graduates. This course is a critical thinking and workforce leadership course intended to provide students with a theoretical framework for employability that contributes to successful employment tenure and job placement of workforce students.
