Leading the Way – Joe Bennett, Miller County OEM Director

Joe is retired Military and retired TAPD. He started work for Miller County January 1, 2019 and since that time as made many changes in the OEM. Joe did an outstanding job keeping rural Miller County, Texarkana, Fouke and Garland updated during the COVID-19 virus pandemic. At the onset of the virus Joe worked night and day searching for PPEs and other necessary equipment for our First Responders including MCVFD, TAFD, TAPD, LifeNet as well as our area hospitals. Joe set up a command center second to none and also sent out daily press releases keeping the public informed.

Joe worked seven days a week at the EOC as well as keeping up with all the normal duties of his job, such as working the train derailment and all of the eighteen wheeler wrecks where hazardous chemicals were involved. Thank you Joe!
