Dance Educator Tammie Duncan Advocates for the Arts

Tammie Duncan, otherwise known as “Miss Tammie” is a major advocate for the Arts here in Texarkana. Tammie has been a dance educator for 39 years and owns her own studio where she not only teaches youth to love and appreciate the Arts, but strongly encourages boys and girls to be involved in the community. Tammie has held a seat on the Texarkana Ballet Company Board since 1988 including two terms as President and is currently serving as Secretary. Miss Tammie has a true passion for Texarkana and strives to preserve the amazing and rich history of the area by serving on the Texarkana Museum Board of Directors, where she assisted in the proposal of two separate grants with National Daughters of the American Revolution concerning repairs of the historic Ace of Clubs House.

Tammie also serves as a tour docent for the Museum as needed for tours. Tammie also serves as the Regent of the Lone Star Chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution here in Texarkana. She is currently serving as the State Chair of Chapter Achievement where the primary goals are Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism. In addition to this program, Tammie serves as Senior Leader of the Lone Star Children of the American Revolution Group, which focuses on providing education to youth and young adults with an emphasis on historic preservation and patriotism. Tammie is clearly leading the way in making Texarkana the best it can be by dedicating her time and energy to the area’s youth while highlighting the wonderful history of Texarkana.
