Cloris Hopkins – 2021 Wilbur Award Honoree for Community Leadership

According to Opportunities Executive Director Sherry Young, Cloris Hopkin’s leadership exemplifies the Wilbur Honors spirit of Leading the Way for Community Excellence and specifically reflecting our community’s key value of ensuring the personal well-being of citizens. During many pandemic months of 2020-2021, Cloris organized and implemented weekly COVID testing for the Opportunities residents and staff according to the Arkansas Department of Health processes, procedures, and guidelines. In addition, she educated residents and staff about the available vaccines, as well as assisted with the coordination and administration of the vaccines.During times of staff and nursing shortages resulting from COVID, Cloris worked endless hours and shifts to care for our residents. During the February 2021 winter storm, Cloris literally walked through snow to administer medications to the organization’s elderly, disabled residents.  In addition to her duties as Director of Health Services, Cloris also teaches a Friendships and Dating class for adult clients at Opportunities.
