Texarkana USA has not one – but TWO! World-class athletes in Paris representing USA at the Olympics!
LEISD and Uof Arkansas grad Jarrion Lawson will be competing in his second Olympics, hoping to best his prior track and field performances.
Born May 6, 1994, Jarrion is an American sprinter and long jumper. He placed third in the men’s long jump at the 2012 World Junior Championships. Competing for the Arkansas Razorbacks, he won five individual NCAA championship titles and one relay title between 2014 and 2016; he won three events (the 100 meters, 200 meters and long jump) at the 2016 NCAA outdoor championships, a triple previously accomplished only by Jesse Owens.
Texarkana native Joscelyn Roberson is also headed for the 2024 Paris Olympics – traveling as an alternate for the USA gymnastics team. Joscelyn trained at North East Texas Elite Gymnastics from the ages of five to sixteen years, before moving to Spring to continue the training that is taking her to the Olympics.
The 2024 Summer Paris Games will be held from Friday, July 26 – Sunday, August 11. Tune in to witness Texarkana-based excellence on the world stage!
