Texarkana Campus of Univ of AR Hope-Txk (UAHT)
Leadership Texarkana Class of 2019
Stepping up to lead the way. Jolane Cook has served the UAHT campus in a variety of areas for over twenty-two years, moving to the Texarkana campus when it opened in 2012. Jolane earned her Master of Public Administration from Texas A&M University (College Station) and her Bachelor of Arts from Hendrix College. Through Jolane’s work at UAHT she has helped generate pathways for citizens to enjoy a better quality of life and escape cycles of poverty through higher education attainment or workplace skills training.
Her ongoing priorities include: Advocacy for specific workplace skills training needed for job demands, including soft skills and technical skills, specifically sharing employment needs and trends with our college’s leadership team, and incorporating soft skills training with student workers; Actively partnering with organizations providing services addressing personal and/or health issues that may cause individuals to put training/higher education completion on hold; Advocate the establishment of workplace scholarships and tuition reimbursement programs that enable employees and/or their family members to complete technical training and/or Bachelor’s degrees, focusing on second and third year part-time student needs. Jolane is married to Kerry Cook, and they have one daughter, Mary Allison Cook.
