CHRISTUS St. Michael Outpatient is home to the only two Certified Hand Therapists (CHT) in a 70-mile radius!

Outside of Texarkana, you would have to go to Shreveport, Dallas, or Little Rock to see a CHT. Obtaining a certification in hand therapy is not an easy task but is a HUGE accomplishment. Candace Taylor and Samantha Pritchett, occupational therapists know this all too well. A Certified Hand Therapist is an occupational therapist or physical therapist who has a minimum of three years of clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more in direct practice in hand therapy. In addition, the Certified Hand Therapist has successfully passed a comprehensive test of advanced clinical skills and theory in upper quarter rehabilitation. This is no easy test by any means. According to the Hand Therapy Certification Commission (HTCC), the passing rate for this exam was 60% in 2019. Way to go Candace and Samantha! GoTXK!
