Leader Profile: James Bramlett
| Stepping Up to Lead the Way Farmers Bank and Trust Texarkana President James Bramlett is Texarkana through and through. He was born and raised here, raised his family here, and has spent his entire adult life giving back to our community. James served as Texarkana, Texas Mayor from 1998 to 2008. Among his most proud accomplishments as Mayor was to lead the city in gifting 300 acres of land to Texas A&M University – Texarkana for their current campus. The City also invested the time and funds to complete the infrastructure needed to support a University with a campus of this size. James explains that it took ten years of work, but worth every minute. Recently, the field used for the Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagles softball team was named Bramlett Field in his honor. Many years ago, James saw a need in our community to help with feeding families in need. He started Bramlett Beans and Cornbread twenty-two years ago and over the years have raised several thousands of dollars to be used to feed Christmas meals and provide presents. This past Christmas, the program fed over 125 families and provided gifts. This program has grown over the years and continues to be a function that is highly supported in our community. As the leader for Farmers Bank and Trust, he sees the need to give back to the community. Under James’s guidance, Farmers Bank and Trust has given over a quarter of a million dollars in sponsorships and grants to Texarkana area non-profits and educational programs. Mr. Bramlett also understands the need of Texarkana leaders to donate their time and skills to area non-profit organizations in the form of volunteer hours and board positions. A list of some organizations James personally serves are: -Christus St Michaels Hospital Board Member, previous Board President for the past three years -Four States Fair Association, Board Member -Texas A&M Alumni Association, Board Member -Pleasant Grove Foundation, Board Member -Texarkana Chamber of Commerce, Board Member -Sacred Heard Catholic Church, Finance Committee Chairman James exemplifies a true leader and supporter of Texarkana. This area is very lucky and honored to have such a servant of his community and a true example to young professionals in our area. |
