Secretary of Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has announced that TASD’s Todd Musgraves, a 4th grade teacher at College Hill Elementary is among the top 12 educators in the state of Arkansas–one of 12 regional finalists for the 2021 Arkansas Teacher of the Year. Mr. Musgraves joined the TASD Razorback family in 2009 and has served as a 4th grade teacher at Fairview Elementary, Kilpatrick Elementary, and College Hill Elementary schools. Musgraves said, “I am proud to represent the Texarkana Arkansas School District and our region.” Mr. Musgraves believes that every student can succeed and even surpass their own as well as other’s expectations. His teaching goal is to get his students to believe they can accomplish whatever they want – to be whatever they want to be in life. “Mr. Musgraves represents the kind of skill, passion, and commitment that exemplify the most demanding and rewarding profession there is: teaching,” said TASD Superintendent Dr. Becky Kesler. Mr. Musgraves completed his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice at the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville and his Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction at Texas A&M University – Texarkana. A special recognition ceremony with Governor Asa Hutchinson is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 31, 2020. During the event, four regional finalists will be announced as the state semi-finalists. CONGRATULATIONS TO MUSGRAVES AND TO TASD! Yet another Texarkana superlative to CELEBRATE!
