Barbara Walker is Leading the Way in Texarkana USA

Leadership Texarkana’s Wilbur Awards have been given annually since 1992, in memory of community servant and historian Wilbur Smith. Celebrating the power of one to positively impact our community, the Wilbur Awards are given in three categories, honoring adults, youth, and organizations to individuals and groups who demonstrate exemplary leadership in the community and a commitment to working together for community excellence. Continuing a Leadership Texarkana tradition practiced from the beginning of the Wilbur Awards program began, we are delighted to always lift up those nominated each for their outstanding service to our community and those who live here – such as Barbara Walker, a 2023 nominee for Wilbur Honors. 

Barbara Walker, Director of Sales at the Hilton Garden Inn, has been nominated by Brittney Haynes. Ms. Walker has dedicated countless volunteer hours in our community through her work with Texarkana Hospitality Network, Kiwanis and Friends for a Cause.  Barbara has been a Texarkana Chamber Ambassador for 22 years. In the height of the COVID pandemic, Barbara led a team to gather support and distribute goodie bags for travel healthcare workers assisting patients in our hospitals.  With over twenty-five years of experience in the hospitality world, Barbara infuses all of her work with creative love of our Texarkana region; Barbara’s passion for making others feel welcome in our community is her special gift of leadership.
