Texarkana was uniquely blessed to be named a Komen Race community!

In October 1988, Texarkana was approved by Susan G. Komen for the Cure as a Race for the Cure host city – which was unique in the nation, because at that time, Texarkana was the smallest city in the U.S. to get approval to take on the challenge of being a Race for the Cure location.
Texarkana’s Race for the Cure enjoyed many additional superlatives among Komen Race sites in its ten-plus year tenure of being held in Texarkana USA. Thanks to all who provided outstanding professional and volunteer leadership over the years to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars dedicated to Breast Cancer Research nationally and to support and detection for area residents.
Txk’s Komen Race was held annually in October from 1988 through 2020, when, due to the challenges posed around the country by Covid-19, the national organization announced it was cancelling all races nationwide, to regroup and refocus its mission and programs.
