A Program of Leadership Texarkana

TXK, USA resident Shane Halter is in a rare group of MLB history!

In the history of Major League Baseball, dating back to 1876, there have been a total of 20,787 Major League ballplayers. Of those 20,787 players, only 5 have played all 9 positions in the field in the same game. On October 1, 2000, Texarkana native Shane Halter became 1 of the 5.

Halter played his high school ball at Hooks High School and then went on to play in college for Seminole State and the University of Texas. In 1991 he was drafted by the Kansas City Royals where he would go on to have an 8 year MLB career.

After coming back home to Texarkana, Halter helped build Southern Athletics Baseball Academy. Through his tutelage, 11 of his players have committed to play baseball in college and 2 have gone on to get drafted to the MLB.
