A Program of Leadership Texarkana

Chris Owens is Leading the Way in Texarkana USA

Pastor Chris Owens was born in Epps, Louisiana but grew up and spent most of her life in Texarkana and graduated from Arkansas High.

She has a passion for serving the community, and the youth have been her primary focus. In 1997 she felt the call to ministry and was the first female ordained through 11th Street Baptist Church. She launched her own church, The Providers House Church, that same year. Chris and her congregation serve at Randy Sams monthly. As one of the first black female pastors in Texarkana she has paved the way for others to come behind her.

Pastor Chris is a CASA volunteer and advocates for juveniles in foster care. She has also served the director at the Ozan Ingraham Iron Mountain Center, serves as a commissioner on the planning commission, and is a member of the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association.

Currently, Chris is focused on teaching children to read. Her program, 3 F Reading, operates out of the College Hill Community Center. The 3 Fs signify that reading is Fun, Fantastic, and Fundamental. She enjoys the work she does and is truly making Texarkana a better place to live, work, and play!
