The first Pontifical Mass in the state of Arkansas was at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Texarkana!

Founded on June 20, 1903 by Reverend Edward Fitzgerald, the parish became a home for Arkansas Catholics. Its first chapel was dedicated, and Mass was held on Christmas Day of that year. In 1923 a new church, designed by Lambert DeKonning and inspired by Rome’s Church of the Most Holy Trinity, was built and blessed with the first Pontifical Mass in the state of Arkansas. http://www.saintedwardstexarkana.com
