Don Morriss is Leading the Way in Texarkana USA

The Leader Of The Year Award is the highest award given by Leadership Texarkana annually, to honor outstanding alumni of the Leadership Texarkana program; it is given in memory of Idalee Raffaelli Hawkins who set a lasting and inspirational example for her willingness to serve our community.   This year’s Leader of the Year honor was presented to Don Morriss in recognition of Don’s extraordinary and longstanding commitment to community leadership and service across the Texarkana region.

Don currently serves as President of FW Offenhauser & Co., and is deeply involved in faith and civic life as Co-Lay Leader at Williams Memorial United Methodist Church, where he also lends his voice to the chancel choir. His leadership extends throughout the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, where he serves on the Committee on Finance & Administration.

A graduate of the inaugural Leadership Texarkana 1980 class, Don has been a pillar of leadership in our region for decades. His resume of service includes current roles on the Texarkana College Foundation Board and with the Kiwanis Club of Texarkana, where he is a past president.  Don’s legacy of leadership spans numerous organizations where he has served with distinction:

·       Cornerstone Advisory Board (Past President)

·       Texarkana Country Club Board (Past President)

·       TRAHC Board (Past President)

·       Texarkana Museum System Board (Past President)

·       Texarkana Chamber of Commerce (Past Chairman)

·       United Way of Greater Texarkana (Past Campaign Chair and Board President)

·       Susan G. Komen for the Cure Board, where he was honored with the Kathy Collins Spirit Award (2013-14)

At the state level, Don is a Past President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas and was awarded the prestigious Drex Foreman Award, the organization’s highest individual honor.

In 1995, Don was honored with the C.E. Palmer Award, further solidifying his place among Texarkana’s most dedicated leaders. Leadership Texarkana is honored to recognize Don Morriss—a true servant leader whose integrity, dedication, and impact exemplify what it means to lead for the greater good of our community.

The Leader of the Year honor was presented to Don at Leadership Texarkana’s 16th annual Lunch with Leaders on Tuesday, April 22nd, along with honors presented to the organization’s Wilbur Award nominees.  All honorees will be lifted up and celebrated over the coming weeks on both the Leadership Texarkana and goTXK social media platforms.
