1. Jeans & Bling
Saturday, Oct. 12

7 p.m., Texarkana Convention Center. Don’t miss this fall’s biggest party! The 10th Annual “Jeans & Bling” event for Hospice of Texarkana will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, October 12th, at the Texarkana Convention Center. Event Chairs are Stephanie & Shorty Barrett! Put on your chic western duds and join us for a fun evening which includes a Texas BBQ Buffet, Live Music, a Lip Sync Battle, Raffle and Silent Auction. All money raised stays LOCAL and benefits Hospice of Texarkana, a nonprofit agency. Beginning early September, tickets can be purchased for $60 each online: http://www.hospiceoftexarkana.org/ or at 2407 Galleria Oaks, Texarkana, TX, or at 501 East 6th St., Texarkana, Ark. 2. Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration
Saturday, Oct. 12

9. Bill Moran School of Bladesmithing Open House & Ribbon Cutting
Friday, Oct. 11

4:30 p.m., Texarkana College. You are invited to an Open House & Ribbon Cutting for the new location of the Bill Moran School of Bladesmithing on the Texarkana College campus. 10. 1894 Trade Days
Saturday, Oct. 12

9 a.m.-3 p.m., 1894 City Market. Join us at 1894 Market Trade Days, where there’s always fun for the whole family while shopping with unique local vendors. Dress up for prizes in the GRIMM FAIRYTALE COSTUME CONTEST while enjoying fairytale paintings and meeting 1894 Gallery’s featured artist Amily Miori 1-3pm. Vendors of all sorts can be found at this local vendor fair including artists, artisans, craftspeople, antiquers, collectors, independent consultants, junk or garage sales, pickers, farmers, fundraisers, food vendors, street musicians and more. 11. FREE “Happiness Advantage” workshop through TAMUT’s Program for Learning and Community Engagement (PLACE) initiative
Monday, October 7

TWO workshops! 8AM – 11AM and 1PM-4PM; both include lunch. This workshop is led by Devin Hughes – based on the work of Shawn Achor, a leading expert on the connection between happiness and success. His Harvard-based research has made the cover of Harvard Business Review; his TED talk is one of the most popular ever, with over 7 million views.   He is the author of New York Times best-selling books The Happiness Advantage and Before Happiness. The Workshop, teaches the seven core principles of the science of happiness from The Happiness Advantage, a springboard for people at the individual, team and organization levels; showing people clearly how to infuse positive practices in their personal habits, team work routines and the organization’s culture.
