5. Create a Ceramic Breakfast Set with Chris Thomas
Tuesday, January 31
Ring in the new year with a beautiful breakfast set! All skill levels are welcome to learn how to create a breakfast set consisting of a small bowl, teacup, and plate. After a fun evening of clay, your crockery will be glazed and fired. They will be available for pickup at the Regional Art Center approximately three weeks after class. 6. 21st Annual Regional Celebration of African American Artists Exhibit: Ernest C. Withers Collection, Good Night, My Love
January 18 – March 25

This photography exhibition features work from the iconic worldwide photojournalist, Ernest C. Withers, who recorded African American history in the segregated South for over sixty years. His vast collection contains some of the most significant Civil Rights Movement activities. Withers’ ever-present three cameras captured moments of change, conflict, classic, community, bravery, courage, determination, innocence, inspiration, and love. With the added local representation from photographer Barbara Pitts Riley, and a High School Cell Phone photography competition, this exhibition details significant history lessons with glimpses of the past, present, and future. Learn more!
 

7. Movie Showing at Texarkana College
Thursday, February 2
In celebration of Black History Month, the TC Music Department is showing the film, “When I Rise: Let Your Voice be Heard” – The Story of Barbara Smith Conrad. The movie night will take place on Thursday, February 2 at 5PM in the Music Hall of the Stilwell Humanities Building. There will be free concessions and admission.
 

8. Little Britches Youth Rodeo
Saturday, February 4
Little Britches Youth Rodeo in the Four States Fairgrounds Equine Center. If you have any questions you can call the office of the Fairgrounds at 870-773-2941.
 

9. Texarkana Jazz Collective at the Banana Club
Saturday, February 4
