Texarkana USA’s downtown is a vital contributor to the local economy

Texarkana USA has dreamed for decades of returning its downtown into an asset for the local economy by revitalizing its historic downtown area, and those dreams have been coming to fruition, due to hard work, smart choices and visionary intention.  

The City of Texarkana, TX has prioritized projects like the Courthouse Square and The Lofts at the Grim, a former historic hotel transformed into vibrant residential and commercial space. This, along with public art installations, beautification efforts, and partnerships with local organizations, showcases the city’s dedication to preserving history while breathing new life into downtown, creating a unique, inviting space for residents and visitors alike.

The TCA funded Texarkana Arts & Historic District reported a $6.5 million economic impact from arts-related tourism, reflecting its role in drawing visitors to local attractions like the Perot Theatre and Texarkana Farmers’ Market. The district’s growth has been recognized as a vital contributor to the local economy and cultural enrichment, leading to increased city support and investment in its infrastructure.

At the same time, the City of Texarkana AR invested city funds in creating the Front Street Festival Plaza as an equipped and viable space available for all Texarkanians to use for community celebrations and events, and also led the way in establishing a viable entertainment district downtown, enabling citizens to take the party to the sidewalks and streets.
